A Day of Impactful Environmental Action
DY Patil University celebrated World Environment Day with an engaging and purposeful line-up of activities centered on the global theme of Land Restoration and Drought Resilience. Organized by the Climate Action Club (D-CAL), under the leadership of Ms. Rajlakshmi Patil, the event successfully elevated environmental consciousness within the campus and community.
Tree Plantation Drive
The day commenced at 9:00 a.m. with a symbolic tree plantation ceremony, reinforcing the importance of increasing green cover and sustainable urban environments. Students, faculty, and local residents took part in planting saplings around the campus.
UNICEF Partnership & Water Initiative
Following the plantation drive:
- The School of Public Healthannounced an MoU with UNICEF, marking a pivotal collaboration in the areas of public health and environmental sustainability.
- The university also introduced the “Handaji” water conservation initiative, which featured interactive photo zones encouraging water-conscious behaviors.
Expert Panel Discussion
A thought-provoking panel discussion was held, moderated by Ms. Rajlakshmi Patil and Ms. Upasana Samanta. Esteemed speakers shared powerful insights on sustainable land use and drought resilience:

Creative Contests & Kahoot Quiz
- Reels & Photo Story Contest:Participants shared visual stories on the theme of land restoration. Winning entries were recognized for their creativity and environmental messaging.
- Kahoot Quiz Game:An engaging session tested participants’ eco-awareness in a fun and competitive format.
Winners received eco-themed food hampers, appreciating their creativity, knowledge, and participation.
Community Commitment
The day concluded with a pledge from all attendees to actively engage in environmental preservation efforts. The overall celebration was a resounding success, demonstrating the impact of youth leadership and collaboration in advancing climate action goals.
