About the Event
To mark World Environment Day, D-CAL and the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai – Joy of Giving came together for a powerful cleanup drive at DPS Flamingo Lake on Palm Beach Road. The event, held under the environmental theme ‘Dharti ki Awaaz’, was a collective call for mindful environmental stewardship and conscious action.
Organizers and Support
D-CAL, founded by Ms. Rajlakshmi Patil, led the initiative. D-CAL continues to demonstrate its commitment to climate change awareness and community-driven environmental action.
The Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai – Joy of Giving, led by President Mr. Mahesh Gera, brought together a dynamic team of individuals from varied backgrounds, all committed to social impact.
The drive was supported by:
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC)
Forest Department
NRI Coastal Police
Mangrove Cell
Local community groups such as NMEPS
Participation & Impact
300+ participants, including students from DY Patil University, Nerul, community members, and volunteers.
Cleanup began at 7:30 a.m. and successfully removed 450 kilograms of waste.

Mr. Sudhir Manjre, Regional Forest Officer
Mr. Satish Kadam, Senior Inspector – NRI Police
NMMC provided vital supplies such as gloves and trash bags.
Reflections & Purpose
This cleanup was not merely about removing waste—it aimed to ignite a deeper environmental consciousness. The event symbolized what communities can achieve when institutions, local bodies, and citizens collaborate toward a shared vision of ecological preservation.
