Founder
Rajlakshmi Patil is a 19-year-old student pursuing a BA degree in geography at University College London. Rajlakshmi is a passionate environmentalist, and has undertaken and participated in multiple environmental activities in India and in Switzerland over the past years. In 2019, she organised a successful Mangrove Cleanliness Drive and has participated in regular beach clean ups and tree plantations in Mumbai. She is also involved in social advocacy in India, founding the Charity Soccer League in 2018, an initiative to raise funds to improve the medical amenities for paediatric patients. Outside of this, Rajlakshmi enjoys writing poems and has published her first collection of poems ‘Mystic’. Her other hobbies include skiing playing the guitar, piano and football.

Rajlakshmi Patil is an environmentalist and changemaker currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Geography at University College London (UCL). Passionate about climate action and sustainability, she founded the D.Y. Patil Climate Action Lab (D-CAL) to bridge academic research with real-world community engagement. Her vision is to empower students and local communities to lead grassroots environmental initiatives that foster lasting impact.
She has led and participated in numerous environmental projects across India and Switzerland, including mangrove clean-up drives, beach cleanups in Mumbai, and urban tree plantation campaigns.
In addition to her climate work, Rajlakshmi is the founder of the Charity Soccer League, an initiative that raises funds to improve pediatric medical care. She is also a published author of a poetry collection titled Mystic, reflecting her creative spirit and deep connection to nature. An avid skier, footballer, and musician, Rajlakshmi believes that meaningful change begins with awareness and consistent action. Through D-CAL, she continues to build a collaborative platform where science, policy, and community come together for a sustainable future.
